What a Godsend!
Despite some cognitive and physical disabilities, our mom managed to live independently for many years. But early this year she had been hospitalized, and my family became overwhelmed by the daunting task of finding care for her. In Capable and Caring Hands
I recently found myself facing the problem of caring for a mother with advanced Alzheimer’s, while my father began showing signs of declining mental capacity (due to a progressive brain condition). Both were still living at home, and they had every intention of staying there. Not knowing where to turn or what to do, I found myself increasingly overwhelmed.
CSOA Geriatric Care Management was recommended by a friend, and after one meeting with Lori Greenhill, our Care Manager, I knew that we were in capable and caring hands.
We have gone through many changes, but our Care Manager was at our side every step of the way. Lori’s knowledge and expertise enabled us to maneuver through the complex world of elder care and services. It is truly remarkable how she anticipated many situations and had methodically planned for upcoming situations that our family would not have anticipated.
My mother is now deceased, but Lori has been very involved in the overall day-to-day care of my father. CSOA GCM selected a specialized in-home team of care-givers, while Lori remained actively involved in dad’s doctor’s appointments and physician consults. Ready with advice and counsel, Lori also managed the transition of my father from home to assisted living. She even took my dad to his home for one last visit prior to its sale. Lori’s care is thorough, consistent and loving! She is incredibly responsive and nothing ever falls through the cracks. And the most important thing is, my father truly loves and trusts her. Simply put, CSOA GCM, its staff, and Lori provide capable, caring hands every step of the journey.

Helpful and Compassionate
My 88-year-old mother, a dynamo in her youth (which lasted until at least age 82) and still a force of nature, had a major stroke. My brother and I were devastated, frightened, and unsure of what to do to take the best possible care of her. We found a host of services and advisers in the community – a maze of them, in fact – but of all the individuals and agencies we consulted, CSOA Geriatric Care Management proved the most helpful, compassionate, knowledgeable, and were really THERE throughout the process.
Lori Greenhill proved to be a very special listener, paying exquisite attention to the details of our experience. She was able to quickly grasp and frame the issues and advise us on specific steps and practical strategies. She was comfortable and knowledgeable about medical issues, the ins and outs of familial love, and financial limitations.
In just one in-person visit, with several follow-ups by telephone and email – to accommodate our schedules – Lori pointed us in directions which helped us place my mother in the best situation possible and get the legal advice we could trust at a price we could afford. And she actually followed up when we didn’t – emailing me when she hadn’t heard from us in a while, checking in how our Mom – and my brother and I – were doing, asking if there was anything more she could do. (There was.) I have rarely felt so well taken care of. My family and I are very grateful to CSOA Geriatric Care Management.

I Felt So Alone
My name is Ruthann, and I am 89 years old. I worked all my life, never married or had a family. I was very close with my sister Sarah, particularly after her husband died.
After Sarah died, I felt so alone. I had help coming in, but I couldn’t really keep up with my home. CSOA Geriatric Care Management helped me with everything from finding an elder law attorney to create a trust to putting my estate in order, as well as helping me move when I down-sized. Since moving to the nursing home, CSOA Geriatric Care Management has continued to be involved in my care and my life. Lori, my Care Manager, was there with me in the emergency room after I fell. She even planned a birthday party for me. I feel like she is my family now, like the daughter I never had. I am so grateful to CSOA GCM for being a part of my life.

Lori Greenhill and her associates from CSOA Geriatric Care Management are among the most caring and selfless people I have ever been privileged to know. Without their unflagging support and love, my Aunt Harriet’s last few years would not have been as comfortable and healthy as they were. They went beyond the typical case manager role to become Aunt Harriett’s friends and touchstones. They gave their professional and personal time to improve my aunt’s life immeasurably. I have nothing but respect and affection for their help and kindness; everyone should be blessed with such friends in their sunset years.

A Wonderful Advocate
Last year, while struggling to find resources for my husband as his Parkinson’s worsened, I became ill myself. Although his doctors were very knowledgeable about his disease, they were not able to ease our fears of what we would be facing, where to turn for help, or where to find the outside support/resources we were so desperately seeking.
My daughter, found CSOA Geriatric Care Management where we met our Care Manager, Lori Greenhill, who became a top-notch advocate for my husband and me. Lori had a host of community resources available and opened the doors we could not, providing emotional support and practical, invaluable knowledge of what we would be facing in the future. What started out as a very bumpy process, Lori turned into a smooth transition as we faced many hospitalizations, as well as complicated medication needs. Lori and her associates at CSOA GCM supplied us with specialized in-home care-givers and medical equipment, enabling my husband to stay at home.
Going beyond the call of duty, Lori helped me manage to get my husband up to North Carolina for our daughter’s wedding. As my husband’s condition deteriorated and he needed residential care, Lori found us a uniquely wonderful nursing home and guided us through the transition. Throughout this entire journey, Lori has been with us advocating, sorting out communications, and ensuring the best care was received.
